If you are having problems logging in to the VLC, then you should check a few things:

  1. Have you typed the Username and Password in verbatim? Case does matter!
  2. Is the Caps-Lock key on your keyboard ON?
  3. Are cookies turned on in your browser?
If you're still having problems you can get a new password sent to you automatically. Go to www.baillie.org.uk/password (to do this you need to enter your username or the same email address you created your account with).

Dundee University Students - please make sure your email address is correct when you create an account. The University standard format for email addresses uses full initials with full stops and surname followed by the address dundee.ac.uk. So, for example, an address might be x.y.person@dundee.ac.uk. The system will try to send you confirmation of your account to the email address you specified when you created the account - so if it's wrong, you won't get confirmation.

If the system keeps returning to the log in page when you're trying to log in, the most common cause is that your own computer has a firewall that is stripping "referrer information" from your browser. So, you need to either tell the firewall to "trust" the site, or you'll need to disable it.

The setting you're looking for is the one that disables "HTTP_REFERER". Instructions on how to do this can be found on the software manufacturer's web site. Here are some instructions for fixing Norton firewall products.
